Job Title: Senior Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking


Reports To: Chief Lending Officer

Position Summary


The Senior Relationship Manager (SRM) is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) relationships. This role combines deep real estate lending expertise with strong general commercial credit acumen to deliver comprehensive banking solutions that support clients’ financing, deposit, and treasury needs.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial banker with the ability to structure complex real estate and operating company transactions, serve as a trusted financial advisor, and contribute to the strategic growth of the bank’s commercial portfolio within the market.


Key Responsibilities


Portfolio & Relationship Management

  • Manage a portfolio of CRE and C&I clients, including developers, investors, and privately held operating companies.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing tailored credit, deposit, and cash management solutions.

  • Conduct regular client reviews to monitor credit performance, uncover new opportunities, and ensure client satisfaction.

  • Build and maintain a strong referral network through relationships with brokers, developers, accountants, and industry professionals.

Business Development

  • Source new loan and deposit relationships through proactive business development efforts.

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell treasury management, merchant services, and private banking solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to design and deliver holistic financial solutions.

  • Represent the bank in community and industry organizations to promote brand visibility and market presence.

Credit & Structuring Expertise

  • Structure, negotiate, and underwrite complex CRE and C&I transactions, including construction loans, term financing, owner-occupied facilities, and working capital lines of credit.

  • Work closely with credit and underwriting teams to ensure proper risk assessment, pricing, and policy adherence.

  • Monitor portfolio performance, manage covenant compliance, and identify emerging risks.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a mentor and resource to junior relationship managers or credit analysts, sharing market knowledge and deal expertise.

  • Partner effectively with credit, treasury, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution and high client satisfaction.

  • Support market leadership in achieving production and profitability goals.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or formal credit training preferred.

  • Minimum 4 years of commercial banking experience, with a strong mix of CRE and C&I relationship management and credit underwriting.

  • Proven track record of originating and managing a profitable portfolio of commercial clients.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage both investor/developer relationships and operating company clients.
