Position Summary


The Commercial Relationship Manager (CRE) is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing a diverse portfolio of Commercial Real Estate relationships across all asset classes. This highly production-oriented role focuses on driving loan and deposit growth through aggressive business development and deep market engagement.


The Relationship Manager serves as a trusted advisor to developers, investors, and institutional sponsors, delivering comprehensive financing solutions across stabilized assets, value-add opportunities, and ground-up construction projects. This role requires strong credit acumen, market expertise, and the ability to execute complex transactions while maintaining disciplined risk management.


Key Responsibilities


Business Development & Origination (Primary Focus)

  • Proactively source and originate new CRE lending opportunities across all asset classes, including office, industrial, retail, multifamily, hospitality, mixed-use, and specialty assets

  • Develop and maintain relationships with developers, private investors, REITs, private equity sponsors, and commercial brokers

  • Serve as a lead “hunter” in the market, generating a consistent pipeline of new loan and deposit opportunities

  • Structure and negotiate financing for acquisitions, refinances, recapitalizations, and development projects

Comprehensive CRE Lending Expertise

  • Execute transactions across the full spectrum of CRE lending, including:Stabilized and income-producing properties
    Value-add and transitional assets
    Construction and development financing (speculative and pre-leased)
    Bridge and interim financing

  • Structure complex deals involving participations, syndications, and multi-layered capital stacks

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and manage long-term relationships with a portfolio of CRE clients

  • Act as a strategic advisor on capital structure, market conditions, and financing strategies

  • Deliver a high-touch client experience to drive retention and wallet share growth

Credit & Underwriting Leadership

  • Analyze financial statements, rent rolls, operating statements, and development pro formas

  • Evaluate key metrics such as DSCR, LTV, LTC, cap rates, and IRR

  • Partner with credit teams to structure and present well-supported loan packages

  • Maintain strong credit discipline while balancing growth objectives

Portfolio Management

  • Actively monitor portfolio performance, including property-level cash flow, leasing activity, and market trends

  • Ensure covenant compliance and accurate risk ratings

  • Identify and proactively manage potential problem credits

Commercial Banking Integration

  • Drive cross-sell of treasury management, deposits, and other commercial banking products

  • Partner with internal product specialists to deliver holistic financial solutions

  • Contribute to overall relationship profitability beyond lending

Market Expertise & Visibility

  • Maintain deep knowledge of the Dallas CRE market across all property types

  • Stay informed on economic trends, capital markets activity, and competitive dynamics

  • Represent the bank at industry events, conferences, and networking functions

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all transactions adhere to regulatory requirements and internal credit policies

  • Maintain thorough documentation and support audit and review processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or related field

  • 5–10+ years of commercial banking experience with a strong focus on CRE lending across multiple asset classes

  • Demonstrated success in originating and closing complex CRE transactions

  • Strong credit analysis and underwriting expertise, including construction and transitional assets

Preferred Skills

  • Established network within the Dallas commercial real estate and brokerage community

  • Experience structuring complex transactions, including syndications and participations

  • Deep understanding of real estate finance and capital markets

  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills

  • Ability to manage a high-volume pipeline in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
