Job Summary
The Private Banker is responsible for delivering personalized banking and financial solutions to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), business owners, and affluent families. This role involves cultivating strong client relationships, providing tailored credit and deposit solutions, and serving as a trusted advisor in managing the client’s overall financial well-being. The Private Banker partners with internal specialists across investment management, trust, insurance, and commercial banking to meet the complex needs of affluent clients.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
Develop and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, serving as their primary point of contact for all banking and financial needs.
Conduct in-depth financial reviews and recommend customized solutions.
Provide white-glove service, ensuring responsiveness, discretion, and high levels of client satisfaction.
Business Development
Source and acquire new clients through referrals, networking, and participation in community, business, and professional events.
Identify cross-sell opportunities for wealth management, lending, treasury, and trust services.
Maintain strong pipelines and consistent calling activity.
Credit and Deposit Solutions
Structure and underwrite complex credit requests, including jumbo mortgages, investment-backed lines of credit, aircraft and specialty loans, and custom liquidity strategies.
Advise on deposit products including interest-bearing accounts, cash management, and FDIC-insured strategies.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with investment advisors, portfolio managers, credit underwriters, and service teams to deliver a holistic client experience.
Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to ensure all activity adheres to internal and regulatory standards.
Risk Management & Compliance
Maintain thorough knowledge of current regulatory environment and adhere to all internal risk policies.
Monitor client account activity to ensure suitability, soundness, and compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (MBA or professional certification such as CFP® or CFA preferred).
7–10+ years of experience in private banking, wealth management, or commercial lending.
Proven ability to source, grow, and retain relationships with HNW and UHNW clients.
Strong knowledge of banking, investment, credit, and estate planning products.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
FINRA Series 7/66 and appropriate insurance licenses (if offering investment solutions), or willingness to obtain.
