Job Summary:

The Senior Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Lender is responsible for sourcing, structuring, underwriting, and managing complex commercial real estate loans. This individual will cultivate and manage client relationships with real estate investors, developers, and owners, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal credit policy. The position plays a critical role in driving the bank’s growth and profitability in the commercial real estate sector.


Key Responsibilities:


Originate and Structure Loans:

  • Source new business opportunities in the commercial real estate market, including acquisition, construction, and refinancing projects.

  • Structure loan terms that align with client needs and the bank’s credit risk appetite.

Underwriting and Credit Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive credit analysis and due diligence, including financial modeling, market analysis, rent rolls, proformas, and collateral evaluations.

  • Prepare and present well-supported credit memos to loan committee for approval.

Portfolio Management:

  • Monitor and manage an existing portfolio of CRE clients, ensuring timely reviews, covenant compliance, and proactive risk identification.

  • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure retention and cross-sell additional banking products and services.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering tailored financial solutions and guidance.

  • Build relationships with brokers, attorneys, developers, and other industry stakeholders to generate deal flow.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all transactions comply with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Stay up to date on local market trends, underwriting standards, and CRE regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field. MBA or professional certifications (e.g., CCIM, MAI) preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–10+ years in commercial real estate lending, with a proven track record of originating and managing a high-quality loan portfolio.

Skills:

  • Strong credit analysis and underwriting expertise

  • Excellent knowledge of real estate markets, legal documentation, and loan structuring

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial loan software platforms

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills

Success Metrics:

  • Annual loan production goals met or exceeded

  • Portfolio quality and minimal credit losses

  • Timely and accurate credit memos and renewals

  • Compliance with internal and regulatory standards
