Job Title: Market President – Commercial Banking
FLSA Status: Exempt


Job Summary:

The Market President is a senior executive responsible for leading and growing the bank’s commercial banking presence in a designated geographic market. This role serves as the local face of the bank and is accountable for market strategy, revenue generation, client relationship management, community engagement, and overall team leadership. The Market President is tasked with driving performance across all commercial lines, ensuring strong credit quality, and fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.


Key Responsibilities:


Market Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead the development and execution of the market’s strategic plan to grow deposits, loans, fee income, and client relationships.

  • Serve as the primary executive representing the bank within the market, building strong visibility and credibility with business leaders and community stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Recruit, lead, and develop a team of Commercial Relationship Managers, Lenders, and support staff.

  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, client-centricity, and performance excellence.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members.

Business Development & Client Relationship Management:

  • Personally manage a portfolio of top-tier commercial clients, providing strategic financial guidance and solutions.

  • Drive new business generation across lending, treasury, deposits, and other commercial banking services.

  • Partner with product specialists (e.g., Treasury Management, Private Banking, SBA, Real Estate) to deliver integrated solutions.

Credit & Risk Management:

  • Ensure sound credit underwriting, loan structuring, and portfolio management.

  • Participate in credit approvals and maintain oversight of market-level credit quality and risk exposure.

Community Engagement & Brand Representation:

  • Represent the bank in civic, nonprofit, and industry organizations to enhance the bank’s visibility and reputation.

  • Promote the bank’s commitment to community development and involvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field required; MBA or graduate-level education preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of commercial banking experience with increasing leadership responsibilities, including team management and P&L accountability.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and people management abilities

  • Deep understanding of commercial lending, credit policy, and financial analysis

  • Proven business development and client relationship management track record

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presence

  • Familiarity with local market dynamics, key industries, and economic drivers
