Position Summary:
The Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing, monitoring, and growing a portfolio of commercial banking relationships. This role supports Relationship Managers by conducting financial analysis, preparing credit presentations, monitoring risk, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. The Portfolio Manager serves as a key point of contact for clients, providing exceptional service while helping to identify opportunities for cross-sell and portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor a portfolio of commercial banking clients, ensuring sound credit quality and compliance with lending policies.
Perform in-depth financial analysis of borrowers and prospects, including spreading financial statements, cash flow analysis, and collateral evaluation.
Prepare credit approval packages, annual reviews, renewals, and modifications for presentation to credit committees.
Monitor covenant compliance, borrower performance, and industry trends to proactively identify potential risks.
Partner with Relationship Managers in client meetings, due diligence, and ongoing relationship management.
Serve as primary point of contact for routine client requests, documentation, and servicing needs.
Assist in structuring new loan requests, pricing strategies, and portfolio growth initiatives.
Maintain accurate and timely portfolio reporting, including pipeline, risk rating, and loan administration.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal credit policies.
Collaborate with internal teams including Credit Administration, Treasury, and Loan Operations to ensure seamless client service.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
3–7 years of experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, or portfolio management.
Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit underwriting, and loan structuring.
Familiarity with regulatory guidelines, risk rating systems, and lending compliance standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare and present complex credit information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and banking/credit software platforms.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
