Position Summary
The Senior Relationship Manager (SRM) plays a critical role in driving growth and profitability within the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment. This role is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing complex commercial relationships while serving as a trusted advisor to middle-market clients.
In addition to managing an individual portfolio, the SRM functions as an informal team lead and mentor, providing guidance to junior relationship managers, portfolio managers, and credit analysts. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership presence, technical credit acumen, and a collaborative mindset to help shape team strategy and execution within the market.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management & Business Development
Serve as the primary banker for a portfolio of middle-market commercial clients, providing customized credit, deposit, and treasury solutions.
Develop and execute client acquisition strategies that drive new loan and deposit growth.
Deepen existing relationships through proactive advisory conversations focused on working capital, financing, and treasury optimization.
Coordinate with product partners (Treasury, Wealth, Capital Markets, etc.) to deliver comprehensive banking solutions.
Credit & Risk Management
Lead structuring and underwriting efforts for complex C&I credit facilities, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and policy.
Oversee portfolio monitoring, covenant compliance, and ongoing risk assessments.
Maintain a strong understanding of clients’ financial performance, market trends, and industry dynamics.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
Act as an informal team lead, serving as a mentor and resource for junior Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts.
Assist in pipeline strategy discussions, deal structuring reviews, and internal credit presentations.
Support market leadership in setting production goals, sharing best practices, and helping foster a high-performance, client-focused culture.
Collaborate closely with credit, operations, and treasury partners to ensure efficient deal execution and client satisfaction.
Community & Market Involvement
Represent the bank in the business community through professional associations, networking events, and community engagement.
Serve as a brand ambassador for the bank’s commercial capabilities and values.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA or formal credit training preferred.
Minimum 7–12 years of progressive C&I banking experience, including complex credit structuring and relationship management.
Proven track record of production success in a commercial or middle-market banking environment.
Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience mentoring junior staff, even in a non-supervisory capacity.
