Job Summary


The Business Banking Division Manager is responsible for leading a division of business bankers focused on serving small to mid-sized businesses, typically with annual revenues ranging from $1MM to $25MM. This role sets strategic direction, drives business development, manages risk, and ensures delivery of a full range of banking solutions—including lending, deposits, and treasury services. The Division Manager is accountable for team performance, portfolio health, client experience, and execution of growth strategies across multiple markets.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the division’s business plan to achieve lending, deposit, and fee income targets.

  • Expand the bank’s presence by leading market-level growth initiatives and building relationships with business owners, centers of influence, and community stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, product innovation, and competitive differentiation.

Team Management & Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing Business Bankers, Relationship Managers, and support staff.

  • Set performance expectations, conduct coaching and reviews, and ensure a culture of accountability, integrity, and collaboration.

  • Foster a strong employee value proposition with clear career development pathways.

Client Relationship Oversight

  • Maintain visibility with key clients and prospects, providing support on complex transactions and strategic planning.

  • Promote a customer-centric culture that emphasizes relationship-building, consultative selling, and long-term client value.

  • Ensure consistent and excellent service delivery across the division.

Credit & Risk Management

  • Oversee the quality and performance of the business banking loan portfolio, including compliance with credit policy and regulatory standards.

  • Provide guidance on structuring and underwriting deals, and support bankers in navigating credit approval processes.

  • Actively monitor risk indicators and take action to mitigate potential deterioration.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Credit, Treasury Management, SBA, Branch Management, and Operations to deliver holistic solutions.

  • Align with Marketing, Product, and Digital Banking teams to develop campaigns and tools that support banker effectiveness and client engagement.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required; MBA or formal credit training preferred.

  • Experience: 10+ years of business banking or commercial banking experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams or regions.

  • Skills:
