Position Summary
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for leading the bank’s IT strategy, infrastructure, and operations to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions. This role oversees all aspects of IT, including systems administration, network management, cybersecurity, and application support, while aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.
The Director plays a critical role in driving digital transformation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
IT Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the bank’s IT strategic plan in alignment with organizational goals
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve efficiency and customer experience
Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on technology trends and risks
Infrastructure & Operations
Oversee IT infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud environments, and data centers
Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of all systems
Manage disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Lead the bank’s information security program, ensuring protection of systems and data
Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (FFIEC, FDIC, GLBA, etc.)
Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities
Systems & Applications Management
Oversee core banking systems, digital banking platforms, and third-party integrations
Ensure efficient system implementations, upgrades, and maintenance
Collaborate with business units to optimize technology solutions
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff across multiple disciplines
Establish performance goals and promote a culture of accountability and innovation
Manage vendor relationships and outsourced service providers
Project & Budget Management
Oversee IT project portfolio, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
Develop and manage the IT budget, including capital expenditures and operational costs
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to internal policies, audit standards, and regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audits and examinations
Maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for IT governance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
8–12+ years of progressive IT experience, preferably within banking or financial services
5+ years of leadership or management experience
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems
Experience with regulatory frameworks relevant to banking
Proven ability to lead large-scale IT initiatives and transformations
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with core banking platforms and fintech integrations
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, or ITIL
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
