Position Summary


The Chief Information Officer / Chief Technology Officer (CIO/CTO) is responsible for leading the bank’s overall technology strategy, ensuring secure, scalable, and innovative systems that support business growth and regulatory compliance. This executive role oversees all aspects of information technology, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital banking platforms, and core banking systems.

The CIO/CTO partners closely with executive leadership to drive digital transformation, enhance client experience, and ensure operational excellence across the organization. This role is critical in aligning technology initiatives with the bank’s Commercial, Retail, and Treasury Management business lines.


Key Responsibilities


Technology Strategy & Executive Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT and digital strategy aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on technology trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Lead long-term planning for systems modernization, digital banking, and fintech integration

Banking Systems & Digital Platforms

  • Oversee core banking systems, online and mobile banking platforms, and payment systems

  • Drive enhancements to digital client experience across Commercial and Retail Banking channels

  • Manage third-party fintech partnerships and system integrations

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of IT infrastructure, including cloud, on-premise systems, and networks

  • Oversee data management, data governance, and system architecture

  • Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Lead the bank’s information security strategy, protecting systems, data, and client information

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (FFIEC, FDIC, GLBA, and other applicable standards)

  • Oversee threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management

Commercial Banking Technology Enablement

  • Partner with Commercial Banking leaders to support treasury management platforms, lending systems, and client-facing tools

  • Enhance technology solutions that drive efficiency in underwriting, portfolio management, and relationship management

  • Support data analytics and reporting capabilities for commercial clients and internal teams

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing IT organization across infrastructure, applications, security, and support functions

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top technology talent

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage relationships with core processors, technology vendors, and service providers

  • Oversee IT budgeting, capital planning, and cost optimization

  • Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance and accountability

Governance, Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure adherence to IT governance frameworks, internal policies, and regulatory expectations

  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and board reporting

  • Maintain robust documentation, controls, and risk management processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • 12–15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably within banking or financial services

  • Proven experience leading enterprise technology strategy and digital transformation initiatives

  • Strong understanding of core banking systems, payments, and financial services technology

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with core banking platforms and fintech ecosystems

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and cybersecurity standards in banking

  • Experience supporting Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, and digital client platforms

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or ITIL (preferred)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and executive presence
